Sign the Petition to Gov: No band-aid solutions to community safety and crime

Tell Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham New Mexicans Want Real Solutions to Community Safety and Crime

During the July 2024 special session, our Legislature did the right thing – committing funds to assist our neighbors in Lincoln County with extreme floods/fires, and refusing to hear bills related to community safety that were band-aids at best and harmful at worst.

We deserve real solutions that keep our communities safe. We need to address the root behavioral causes of crime by improving access to mental healthcare, providing more social services, and emphasizing rehabilitation over incarceration in New Mexico.

We are calling on our governor to work with the legislature in the interim and put forth evidence-based policies that actually work.

Sign this petition to urge Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham to sign HB1 to provide relief to our neighbors now; and listen to the community, work with our legislature, and tackle these critical and complex issues during the 60-day legislative session in January 2025, where policies have a real chance to make change.
