ProgressNow New Mexico is calling for Yvette Herrell to resign her position as U.S. Representative to New Mexico Congressional District 2. Herrell has continuously supported the Republican Party’s disinformation campaign about the 2020 election, including President Trump's completely baseless accusations of widespread election fraud. Herrell supports Trump’s refusal to accept the election results and is complicit in the undemocratic, violent takeover of the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday which delayed congressional action to certify President-elect Biden’s win until late into the night.
Throughout her campaign for the U.S. House seat, she invoked support of President Donald Trump’s bigoted and undemocratic ideals. She continues, just days after her swearing in, a show of obsequious loyalty and parroting with Trump’s false claims about election fraud.
Despite Wednesday’s violent insurrection intended to overturn the election results and illegitimately keep Donald Trump in power, Herrell voted AGAINST certifying Arizona and Pennsylvania's electoral votes.
